Youth Arts Celebration



The 2010 Youth Arts Celebration will take place at the Indiana Mall Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd. It's free! There is no participation or admissions charge.

Purpose

  • To provide community exposure for the work of art, music, drama and literary art students in grades K-12
  • To engage young people in new learning opportunities which will increase their interest in the arts and in their schools
  • To create a partnerships between the schools and the Indiana Arts Council, including teachers and administrators
  • To enhance the awareness of the benefits of art education for young people
  • To develop and enhanced appreciation of the arts in the community

Planned Activities

The core program will include --

  • Performances of music, drama, dance and poetry by students either through the schools or through out-of-school activities
  • Displays of visual arts including painting, ceramics and sculpture.
  • Interactive activities by the IUP Chapter of National Art Education Association
  • Professional artists demonstrating and displaying their work

NEW this year, the Youth Arts Celebration will include –

  • The Lit Pit- the fountain area outside of Bon Ton dedicated to interactive workshops and performances of poetry, short stories & memoir journaling
  • Interactive, educational performance by the Dad Band, jazz improvisation.
